On Tenderhooks at the Hook of Holand

Our local  helpful bike shop at the Hook of Holland

We're only a ferry ride away from England here

Dinner with Bob and Jose last night. They're our guardian angels 😊

Comfy digs for two nights

The Kuiperduin Hotel. It used to be the Rectory for the Church next door.
But we've now downgraded to a campground

It's now Monday evening and we're  still at the Hook (and also on tenderhooks waiting for the bike outcome haha!)

We spent the last two nights in our lovely hotel and spent yesterday evening with Bob and Jose, our guardian angels here at the Hook. They joined us for an excellent dinner in a spot overlooking the “New Waterway” as this section of the Rhine is known.

This morning we were at the bike shop at opening and the news now is they were able to track down the parts in Belgium. The question is how long will it take to get them here. I think it was quite fortunate to even find these parts in Europe as my brand of bike (Kona) is not very common here. There is a chance they could arrive tomorrow. If not, we have a bit of a problem because the bike shop is closed on Wednesday.

Today we learned that all the hotels in town are full, and there is nothing available here on Air Bnb or Warmshowers. But we did eventually find a campground nearby, so we're all set up there now. The hard part is just not knowing how long this will take. We have come up with a plan B and C but first we feel we should first wait to see what happens tomorrow. So now we wait.

  1. Patience pays off ....that is the best solution for now. The parts hopefully come tomorrow...hugs!

    1. You're right, we just have to be patient. We're better off hanging out here than Calgary where they got snow yesterday!

  2. Well, it's fun with bicycles, it's the same as with cars, spare parts must be ordered abroad. As far as I can remember, the Dutch bikes were different than they don't have hills. The delivery service definitely works.

  3. I ride a Kona too. I never considered that it might be hard to find parts for it in Europe!
