Last day in the Netherlands

 Monday May 16th

Wenenigen to Millingen 55km

First stop today was Doorwerth Castle and then on to the city of Arnheim, famous for the WW2 battle that took place there. Had to shelter under trees for a short downpour just after crossing the Rhine bridge past Arnheim.

Crossed the Rhine a couple of times today via pedestrian/bike ferry. Each crossing costs 1 or 2 euro. The second ferry took us to Millingen, which is still in the Netherlands  but only steps from the German border. Stocked up at the grocery store and found camping on the outskirts of the town, in the middle of farmland.

Doorwerth Castle

Quiet road on our route today

A breed I'm not familiar with, but my farming consultants tell me she has a lot of Belgium Blue. Very muscular for a female, note the large rounded headquarters

Path down to one of the ferries

All alone at our camground in Millingen

  1. What does a bike/pedestrian ferry look like? I'm imagining something small but hard to picture it. -Mike
